Eight Fun Lessons in the Bible

by Stafford and Jo Anne North

Lesson 2

Use your Bible to find the answers. Genesis 1:1, for example, means Genesis, chapter 1, verse 1. Each question in this lesson is from Genesis, the first book in the Bible, chapters 1, 2, or 3. No. 1 below is Part 1 out of 10 parts in our story of the Bible. When you learn all 10 parts, you’ll know the story of the whole Bible! Wow! Go for it! Here’s Part 1.

1. GOD AND PEOPLE STARTED IN A CLOSE FRIENDSHIP.  (Part 1)

How wonderful to be friends with God! In the picture "G" is for "God." The happy face is for people who are His friends. To learn about Part 1, look in the Bible verse for the answer to each blank. Mark off the words at the bottom as you put them in. They are not in the order you’ll use them.

Genesis 1:1 says "in the ____________" God created the heavens and the earth. He made the sun, moon, and stars, trees, fish, and birds. On the sixth day, He made two people. One was a _____ and the other was a ____________. (Genesis 1:27) Their names were ________ and ________. (Genesis 3:21-22).
                                               Adam       Eve       beginning        male       female

1. GOD AND PEOPLE STARTED IN A CLOSE FRIENDSHIP (continued).

How did God show his closeness with people? He did wonderful things for them. Look at some listed below.

Continue to fill in the blanks by looking in the Bible at the scriptures.. Check off words at the bottom as you use them.

The first thing God did for people: God made people in His own ___________. (Genesis 1:26,27) This made people different from everything else God made. In the New Testament we learn that God is spirit (John 4:24). Because people are made like God, they have a spirit or soul to live in their bodies. This is the part of us that is in God’s image and the spirit we have will live forever.

The second thing God did for people: God them and he gave everything he had made to these first people to use. (Genesis 1:28.29) God wants all people to be happy.

The third thing God did for people: God made a special home for Adam and Eve. It is called the Garden of . (Genesis 2:8,9) God gave people a beautiful earth to live on.

The fourth thing God did for people: In the Garden of Eden, God came to man and woman to be close friends with them. God and _________ with the people in this garden. (Genesis 3:8) How wonderful to feel close to God. God still talks to people but now it is through the Bible He told men to write.
                                                  Eden        image        walked        talked        blessed

To help you remember Part 1 in the Bible story, fill in the blank and draw a picture like the one above. We are happy when we are friends with God.

1. GOD AND PEOPLE STARTED IN A CLOSE _____________________.

2. GOD LET PEOPLE CHOOSE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG. (Part 2)

God let’s us choose. Remember this as Part 2 in the Bible story. Continue using your Bible to fill in the answers in the blanks. Check off the words below as you did before.

God said the people could eat everything in the Garden except the fruit from one tree. It would make them know __________ and _________. (Genesis 3:5) God told them not to eat this fruit, not even not to touch it. If they did they would _____. (Genesis 3:3).

die     evil     good

People could choose! Either they could do what God said or disobey Him. If they chose to obey God, they would stay His close friends. But if they disobeyed God, they could no longer be His friend. So, God let people choose between right and _____________.

It’s the same today. God wants us to be His close friend. When we obey Him, we’re His friend. But when we follow the devil, we loose God’s friendship.

So, we’ve learned the first 2 of the 10 parts telling the story of the Bible. Below, fill the blanks left in the two parts and draw the picture that goes beside each.

1. God and people started in close _____________.

2. God let people __________between right and _________________.
