Eight Fun Lessons in the Bible

by Stafford and Jo Anne North

Lesson 3

I’m glad you are starting Lessson 3. You will learn a lot. You can share what you already know with a friend or relative. From memory, fill the blanks in the sentence below for Parts 1 and 2 and beside each of the drawings, draw one just like it. If you need to, you can look back at Lesson 2. Did you notice that Yellow Bird (Y. B. for short) is with me today?

1. God and  _____________ started in a close __________________. (Part 1)

2. God let _____________ between right and _____________. (Part 2)

Good! We’re now ready to start on Part 3. In our story we are still in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve and God are still close friends.

3. PEOPLE CHOOSE TO SIN. (Part 3)

The "S" stands for SIN. The finger pointing to it shows that people choose to sin. For each blank below there is a little drawing in the margin to give you the clue to the answer.
Disobeying God is called sinning. An evil spirit, called the Devil spoke through a ________. (Genesis 3:1) He lied to Eve. He told her she would not die if she disobeyed God and ate the fruit from the ________ of knowledge. (Genesis 3:4,5)
_______ choose to obey the Devil. (Genesis 3:,6) She wanted ______ to choose to disobey too. So he did. Eve and Adam chose to sin!
When God came to the _________ of Eden where they were, they knew they had disobeyed him. They were afraid and tried to hide. (Genesis 3:8,9,10).
Fill in the blanks in the sentence below. Draw a picture of the hand pointing to the "S" beside the picture. Make it like the one above.

3. PEOPLE ________________ TO ____________.

By the end of our study, you should be able to draw all the pictures and fill in key words in all the sentences. We’ve studied the first three parts in the Bible story. I am so proud of you for sticking with these lessons. Now on to Part 4 of our Bible story.

4. SIN SEPARATES PEOPLE FROM GOD.
Read the Bible verses given and then fill in the blanks to learn about Part 4.

"But your sins have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear." Isaiah 59:2

Adam and Eve sinned when they disobeyed God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their sin became a terrible wall between them and God. Their sin ______________ them from God. This made God sad because He loved them. Yet, He had to punish their sins.

"So the Lord God sent him out of the Garden of Eden." Genesis 3:23
"From dust you [were made] and to dust you will return." Genesis 3:19

So God _____________ Adam and Eve out of the garden where He had been friends with them. Because of their sin, God said Adam and Eve will return to ______. Their bodies will return to dust (they will die), and all those born from them will also die.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"The wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23.
Adam and Eve, and all who sin like they did, will also be separated from God by the terrible wall of sin. In fact, Paul, an apostle of Jesus, wrote, that ____ of us sin and that the result of
our sin is _________. This death means separation from God forever.

People choose to sin and sin brings a terrible wall between them and God. Goodbye close friendship with God! This was true of Adam and Eve. It is also true today of all of us who do wrong after we can understand what is right and wrong. Are you that old? Has sin made a wall between you and God?
Here is how to tell if you are separated from God. Have you have chosen to tell a lie, be unkind, disobey your parents, or take what is not yours, then you have sinned.

Now, fill in the blanks in the sentence below and draw a picture beside it like the one above. Be sure the face is right!

4. SIN _____________________ PEOPLE FROM ______________. (Part 4)
