Lesson 5

Hello again. We’re over half through with our Bible study! Can you remember the six parts we have covered so far and their pictures? Let’s review a little. Fill in the key words and draw the pictures to the left or right. My dog, Buddy, begged to meet you.. So here he is ! Y.B has told him all about you.

Great job! Only 4 more pictures to go. Now start with part 7.

7. PEOPLE MUST CHOOSE TO ACCEPT JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR. (Part 7)

Since God made us creatures of choice, we must decide to choose Jesus. God will not force anyone to believe but gives each person the chance to choose as he or she hears the story of the Bible.

YOUR CHANCE TO FIND OUT!

Read the scripture. Then decide the answer. Circle yes or no.

  1. "Christ Jesus . . . gave himself as a ransom for all." 1 Timothy 2:6
Did Jesus die for every person? Yes or No
  1. "Then will [God] say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’" Matthew 25:41
Will every person who has ever lived go to heaven? Yes or No
  1. "If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be you will indeed die in your sins." John 8:24. Will those who do not believe in Jesus get forgiveness through his death? Yes or No
  1. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
What does Jesus ask us to do to have eternal life? _________
  1. Speaking of Jesus, Peter said, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
Is Jesus the only one who has given His life to save people from their sins? Yes or No
Check to see how you did. 1--yes; 2--no; 3--no; 4--believe; 5--yes. Good. Now based on what you have learned, choose the right answer to the question below:

I start choosing to accept Jesus as my savior:

a. when I am born
b. when I can live without ever doing anything wrong
c. when I believe in Jesus as the Son of God who can save me.

If you picked "c" you got the right answer. Now let me explain a few words to be sure you understand.

  1. To believe and to have faith are the same thing. My belief or faith in Jesus comes from studying the Bible.
  2. Being "saved from sins" and being "forgiven of sins" mean the same thing. Both mean that our sins are gone. Now we can be a close with God.
  3. "Eternal life" means that when God forgives us and we keep on pleasing Him with our lives, we can go to heaven and live with Him forever.
  4. Those who say "no" to Jesus should not expect Jesus to save them. Now look back at picture number 7 on the last page. Draw your picture to the right of the one there. Say part 7 out loud several times.
Jesus loves you! And, if you are old enough to understand about sin, Jesus wants you to accept Him so He can take your sins away. To be a close friend with God after we have sinned, we must want Jesus to take our sins away.

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER?

True or False? Circle either T or F.
Look back in your lesson if you need help deciding the answers.

1. People sin because they choose to sin. T or F
2. People sin when the Devil makes them do it and they cannot help it. T or F
3. Sin separates people from God. T or F
4. Jesus did not die for everyone. T or F

Thank you! Thank you! Now you are beginning to see how to connect with Jesus. You are getting closer to finishing all of the "The Story of the Bible in 10 Pictures." There will be a certificate for you when you finish. Buddy thinks you did so well that he has brought you a flower! The next lesson will have a "secret word." Clue: It will have to do with water. See you later. David.
