The Bible Says

Eight Fun Lessons in the Bible
by Stafford and Jo Anne North

Lesson 6

Great to see you again. Buddy came back too. I hope you’re learning the Bible story about how people start as friends with God and break that friendship by sinning. Since God loves us, so much, He sent Jesus to die as punishment for our sins. Now we can be friends with God again by choosing Jesus as our Savior. But just choosing Jesus is not enough.

8. PEOPLE MUST SHOW THEIR FAITH BY OBEYING GOD

YOUR CHANCE TO FIND OUT!
Read the Bible verse and fill in the blanks.

1.

"Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11: 6
Faith means that one comes to God believing that He ________ and that He ____________ those who seek Him.

2.

"If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will die in your sins." John 8:24
Jesus said unless a person believed He was who claimed to be, Son of God, that person would _______ in their __________.

3.

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is the Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
I must be willing to make my faith public by saying to someone else that I believe _________ is ________.
So to choose Jesus as our Savior, we must believe in Him and tell others. But before He forgives our sins, there’s more than just believing and confessing that faith.

4.

"You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone." James 2:24
God wants us to obey Him to show our _________.
God wants to forgive our sins. But He asks us to have faith and to show it by obedience. This is how we tell God we have chosen Jesus as our savior. But what does God ask us to do so He can forgive our sin? Again, we go to the Bible for the answer. By the way, maybe you can help Buddy find his bone. He is hungry. If you find it, circle it so he will see it.

1.

When people in Jerusalem believed in Jesus as the Son of God, they asked Peter, "What shall we do?" Write in the blanks the two things Peter told them to do to show their faith?

"Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins." Acts 2:38
__________________________ and be ____________________________.

2.

Saul saw Jesus on the road to Damascus and believed in Him. For three days, he ate nothing as he prayed and was sorry for his sins. So he had believed and repented. Then Ananias told Saul:

"Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins." Acts 22:16
What did Ananias tell Saul to do? _____ ________________

What do"faith," "confession," "repentance," and "baptism mean to you?"

"Faith" means I believe on Jesus as the Son of God who was punished for our sins. Faith also means I love Jesus and want to live like He says.

"Confession" means I will tell others that I believe that Jesus is Lord, the Son of God.

"Repentance" means I will change my mind about wanting to do wrong. I let God, through the Bible, tell me what to do. When I repent I am sorry for the times I disobeyed God. I am willing to promise I won’t do it again.

"Baptism" means I am put under water to show my submission to God and to make a "picture" of Christ’s death and resurrection. It is the time when God forgives my sins.
Am I willing to believe, confess, repent, and be baptised? yes or no?

YOUR CHANCE TO FIND OUT!
Read the verse and then answer "yes’ or "no"

1. "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4
Baptism is like a burial and a resurrection. Yes or No
2. "Then both Philip and the [Ethiopian] went down into the water and Philip baptized him." Acts 8:38
When the Ethiopian was baptized, the preacher, Phillip, poured water from a jar on his head. Yes or No
3. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." Mark 16:16
Jesus said that one should believe before being baptized. Yes or No

Did you find the secret word? The clue was that it had to do with water. Of course, you found it. It is baptism.
